If I can stop one heart by Emily Dickinson is one of my favorite poems because it's just unique and I love what the poem is focus on. The poems mean a lot to me because it’s talking about stop hurting hearts. What I love most about it is because they use "I shall not live in vain". They compare breaking hearts to living in vain, and that means a lot. This poem is mainly about love. How to stop love from hurting. Stop breaking people's hearts. This poem connects to metaphor because it's comparing love in different ways. The poem said “If I can stop one heart from breaking, if I can ease one life the aching ". That's an example of a metaphor because it’s similar. They both are talking about pain. They want to relieve pain not give it. This is a metaphor because they are similar.
A poison tree by William Blake is another one of my favorites because of the way it’s written, and the meaning of it. I love the uniqueness of the poem. I feel like they put thought into it. I believe that this poem is about someone that has pain in their life. I think the tree is their pain. It was water from their tears, and etc. I say that because the poem says " And I watered it in fears, Night & morning with my tears: And I sunned it with smiles, And with soft deceitful wiles ". They water the tree with their tears and gave it sun from their smile. This poem is a, metaphor to me also because the poem is called “A Poison Tree," and at the end a "foe" lies "outstretched beneath a tree" after eating the (possibly poisoned) apple that grows on it.
Hold on to your dream is a poem that has an unknown author but I like this poem because it’s telling you to hold on to your dream and that means a lot because it's persuading you to not give up. This poem is basically about not giving up regardless. Always chase your dream. I know this because in the poem it says "Hold on to your dreams, just never let them fade". This is a motivational poem that should be read in school. This is a metaphor to me also because they are comparing everything that is similar. All the sayings in this poem consist of the same thing. It focuses on your dreams. "It's the dream that pushes you to achieve the so called impossible. Let the fire inside you illuminate your future, so desirable". This poem means a lot and is nothing but motivation, and a spirit lifting poem.
